“For choosing stillness over flow
Calmness, growth & letting go”
It was a cloudy day, not a rainy one like those in romantic movies. He was looking into the sky and wondering about the simultaneity of the earth’s movement and his breathing. Why would a person with mathematical background go for art? But it is what it is. It could be from “Autotelicity”, he likes what he does, not just because he has to; he does what he likes, or even “Authenticity“, he’s true to himself and he it’s all meant to be.
It’s really a laborious challenge for him to put his feelings, ideas, perspective, etc., into words. He seems to have not much talent in public speeches, yet now he is trying to accomplish and explain it. This guy felt the connection first time when he was a child, when he saw the hammer and used to play with it like a toy and years after when he was a teenager, he was craving for something that could bring the meaning and fill the time-hollows, to take him out of time and place and all other physical or mathematical factors, and it was the hammer and chisels again, as it is all written beforehand or?!
I’m him, Ciao! My name is Parandeh, actually a very Persian name, like the art I learnt and have been doing for years, which is metalwork, by some means like sculpture, somehow not, creating art forms with the hammer, though from the bottom of my heart . Oh the sound, the harmonic sound of pounding the chisels and they kiss the metal, or when you create the mistakes and you know that they cannot be erased. However, what is a mistake?! Altogether, as I grew and travelled more, as I read and learnt more, my definition of art changed and will change. Besides sketching and metalwork, I started making jewelleries, photographing and even making coffee professionally. Basically, I can say I found art in every moment of life, it can be realised in every act and thing.
The spirit of light in the form of metal, how to play with elements, not just to create a composition, but to blend the moments into metal. It’s not even about creating an artwork or the result, the action of doing itself fulfils me. When listening to music, dancing the hammer to embrace the metal. It’s more than drawing or hammering; like how it may beautifully drizzle when it’s cloudy.
Currently I am studying my master’s in engineering in a small lovely city, Trier; I am working also as a student in the field of photovoltaics, always intrigued by how this cosmos works. This fascinating path taught me more than studying itself! Proving to me that life is really a journey and I liked this journey that I’m content even if I die tomorrow.
